Victory in Newnham Shield

Imberhorne's U16's Rugby team met with Sackville at the East Grinstead Rugby Club on Tuesday 20th September for the first annual 'Newnham Shield' game. The 'Newnham Shield' celebrates the dedicated work of Physical Education teacher Barry Newnham who retired from Imberhorne School this summer.  He had taught at Imberhorne for over 35 years. The game was thoroughly enjoyable and supported by a great turnout from fellow students, parents and school staff.  The final score was 38 - 7 to Imberhorne.  The atmosphere at the club was brilliant and the sense of occasion was heightened by the presence of three members of East Grinstead's 1st mens team.  They presented the shield to Imberhorne and commented on the impressive Rugby from both schools.Hopefully this meeting will go from strength to strength with both schools coveting the shield.  We are sure the event will prove to be a  much anticipated date in the sports calander.
