The Student Voice at Imberhorne

Members of our Student Council met on 6th December as part of their ongoing work for our 'Student Voice' programme. We are extremely impressed with the work that Year 9 leading students in particular are carrying out by visiting form groups to gather opinion and ideas. They are determined to represent their fellow students!

Mr Brown, who sat in on the meeting, commented how impressed he was by the skills and awareness of the students to focus on a number of practical matters to do with the school environment and canteen facilities as well as demonstrating a real interest in key pastoral matters.

The students have committed themselves to exploring the attitude and experience of fellow students to bullying whilst also identifying the need to signpost how students can access the wide range of support available in the school. They are taking a responsible attitude towards both investigating issues and finding solutions.

In addition to all of these discussions the student council also had the time and energy to look at teaching and learning in the school. They are keen to harness the capability of digital media and are considering ways teachers can share resources and information about lessons beyond the classroom. As always our students demonstrate an amazing appetite to drive forward change and improvements. We are working hard to harness their creativity and enthusiasm in order to make all aspects of school life as effective as possible.
