German Exchange Celebrates 25th Anniversary

We welcomed over 40 visitors from Dortmund, Germany into school on 8th October for the 25th anniversary of this very strong international partnership. Year 8 & 9 Imberhorne volunteers worked across four lessons with our guests engaging in activities that develop the English language skills of the German students and the German language skills of our students.

Speed style dating, creative bunting and partner research tasks helped the 'getting to know each other' process. By break-time, many friendships were already starting to emerge. This type of opportunity creates so much more than a chance to practise language skills though - we believe it enhances character to build confidence, understand the culture of others, accept and celebrate differences, widen horizons and strengthen relationship skills. A great day, a successful visit and a further example of why we have been re-accredited with the international Schools Award!
