East Grinstead in Bloom

On Friday 10th July, Imberhorne were visited by the judges of the ‘South East in Bloom 2009’ competition along with Cllr David Banks, Chairman of East Grinstead in Bloom. We are very proud to be involved in the judges’ consideration for the town entry into the annual competition. Over the recent months a group of students involved in our inclusion programme have worked extremely hard in all weathers preparing their allotment and gardens for their part in ‘East Grinstead in Bloom’. The group of Year 8 and 9 students have learnt how to grow and harvest various fruits and vegetables and tend flower beds and gardens. The fruit and vegetables grown by the team of students will be used by the catering staff on site in the preparation of school meals. The gardens tended by the students enhance the school environment and are enjoyed by all. Mrs N Daw, Eco School Project Leader, commented, “It’s a really exciting project which has grown and grown since 2007. I am so pleased that the children and school have been a part of the town’s campaign this year and felt a sense of achievement with their efforts”. We are keeping our fingers crossed for the results later this year.
