Art

Curriculum Intent

The Art department at Imberhorne, is a lively, friendly, welcoming and inclusive environment. Teacher specialisms include Sculpture, Ceramics, Painting, and Photography. As a department we strive to promote a life-long love of Art through creating, experiencing, analysing, contextualising and evaluating Art in all its forms. We work to deliver art lessons that are fun and in which all students should feel safe to create, take creative risks and inspire each other in a mutually supportive atmosphere.

The Art team work together to deliver a high-quality art and design education that engages, inspires and challenges pupils, and that will equip them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own, personal and meaningful, works of art, craft and design. As students progress, they will develop the skills to be able to think critically and develop a more rigorous understanding of art and design. They will also understand how art and design both reflect and shape our history, and contribute to the culture, creativity and wealth of our nation.
