Imberhorne is a large and successful split site Comprehensive school in East Grinstead, in the north east corner of West Sussex, very close to the border to Surrey, East Sussex and Kent. Our Lower School site for students in Years 7–9 is on Windmill Lane, on the site of the former East Grinstead Grammar School whilst GCSE students and the large sixth form are taught at the Upper School site on Imberhorne Lane.

Our aim is to provide within the school a welcoming and friendly environment, and to offer opportunities and education which develops confident, happy, successful and highly qualified young adults – well prepared to face the future in their chosen walks of life.

We believe that all members of the school community should be enabled and encouraged to develop their full potential.  It is this belief that has led to Imberhorne’s excellent reputation and its many achievements and awards. We are dedicated to high standards of education and behaviour, and in helping the students to develop into confident well rounded and thoughtful young people.

The school is committed to providing a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities with our international links programme leading to the International School Award and many opportunities for trips, drama, music and dance performances and for a range of sporting opportunities Many of these will be celebrated on this website and in the termly school magazine, Contact which is also available for downloading.

Recent inspections have recognised the high academic achievements of students and staff and opportunities provided for social development.  The excellent community links, the school’s strong and purposeful management and the caring ethos have all been highlighted by inspectors. We are particularly proud of a comment in the 2010 Ofsted inspection report (where the school was judged to be outstanding) which seems to sum up what we are trying to achieve,

‘The focus on individual ambition and independent learning for each student is emphasised from year 7 onwards.  It equips them with the best possible social and academic skills necessary for them to meet the challenges of life after school’.

We like to think that Imberhorne is a happy and friendly school and so many of my colleagues and I were delighted when the lead inspector from Ofsted wrote the following message to our students after his inspection,

“You told us personally and through your questionnaire responses that you enjoy school and that relationships between students and adults are excellent. We were particularly impressed by your courtesy to each and to us and the way that nearly all of you smiled a great deal.”

More information about the school can be found by downloading the Prospectus and further information booklet in the 'About us' menu on this website or by browsing the various pages of our site which will give a flavour of the range of activities that our students get involved in and the many talents they have.

I do hope you enjoy browsing our website interesting and that you are able to find the information you are seeking. If not, please e-mail your queries or comments to info@imberhorne.co.uk
